It isn’t an easy process.
You start with the search, and that by itself can be frustrating enough. Say you’ve looked at 103 homes and just still haven’t found the right one. But then, there it is. The home of your dreams! It’s in the right school district, close to everything, giant backyard for your hipster laying hens. But the price, oh just a little too high. You make an offer, and boom. They reject, or counter.
And here’s round two. Wait, now there are multiple offers?! What’s going on here?? No, it’s MY house, MINE!
Congratulations – you paid way more than asking. And so, now you’re under option. Woohoo! Except the inspection comes back. The water heater was installed how? There’s a raccoon in the ceiling? No, I don’t no the difference between GFCI and TGIF. What’s happening?!
Okay. Repairs have been re-negotiated. You’re getting a new roof! (which is good because the old one leaked and now you have water damage you were unaware of before..)
Option over. I AM BUYING THIS HOUSE!…. what do you mean it didn’t appraise? what comps? No comps? THAT’S BECAUSE IT’S A ONE OF A KIND MASTERPIECE. Time to renegotiate again…. Take a breath. You’re almost done.
Okay, got to get the electric and water in my name. What company… hmmm? There are HOW many companies to choose from? What does it all MEAN?!?!?
*DAY OF CLOSING* “Sign here, and here… and here and here and here and here and here and here” (x a million)
“Congratulations! You did it!”
Now go home and relax. Except don’t forget to re-paint all the walls in the entire house. The End
And somehow SOME people still want to attempt this without an agent. I’m here for moral support more than you’d think.

I appreciate your honest info on buying a home. It’s funny how you made hiring an agent sound like a must, and I frankly agree with you. I would never try and buy a home without an agent’s help.
