In Part 1 of this blog series, we boldly proclaimed that it’s a great time to start the buying or selling process now. Last time we covered the first three points, so indulge us a while longer as we cover the last three.
Why Start the Buying or Selling Process Now?
4. Buyers are more serious
Winter means cold, yucky weather that most people like to avoid. If people are out looking at houses – willing to brave the weather – it typically means they’re serious. The busier months may bring more showings, but chances are that not all of them a serious quite yet. Your house may not show as often this time of year, but people looking are likely serious about finding a new home.
5. Interest is currently low
Interest rates for the purchase of a home are low right now. Talk of the town is that rates may be shooting back up soon, so now is the time to lock in your rates. This is not a seasonal change, but one that changes due to the economy. Winter 2016 may have very different interest rates. Thus, it’s a wonderful opportunity right now that may not last long. In fact, here is an article by CNN News about the current mortgage rate status.
6. Homes show better
Most properties show better in the winter. Why? Curb appeal. Not everyone has a perfectly manicured and treated yard. Even so, curb appeal has a lot more to do with selling your home than you might think. Think of it as your home’s first impression. Winter has a tendency to level the playing field by making most everyone’s lawns brown. In addition, many lawns are decorated for the holiday season and might even be covered in snow.
