Let us be the first to welcome you to our great city. There are three things that you will need to know about Abilenians, we have a strong sense of community, history and humor! Most of us don’t wear boots or cowboy hats all that often, but you will find that jeans are appropriate attire for nearly every occasion.

When you relocate to Dyess Air Force Base you might find it interesting that it is located within the city limits and plays a large role in our economy. Approximately 2/3 of the personnel stationed at Dyess choose off base housing for their families, partly because the base is easily accessible being a maximum of 20 minutes from anywhere in the city.
